Cash seeks answers over Blythe Park power station public inquiry

Following the decision of the Planning Committee at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to reject the Blythe Park Power Station proposals, Bill Cash MP said:

“I have written to the Secretary of State to seek guidance on the public inquiry that may follow and have informed him of the huge and serious opposition to this power station.

“Whilst I am aware of the existing procedures, I have already told the Secretary of State that local residents are forced to fund their own opposition themselves against a costly inquiry procedure that most would regard as a great waste of taxpayers money, given the level of opposition.

“To pursue this project through a public inquiry, and at a time when there are more serious issues like the extraordinary level of national debt, is regarded as hugely wasteful and a costly exercise to many residents. It would be common sense to simply turn it down now.”
