We are still fighting issues in the village!
The power station fight has now ended but VVSM are still trying to resolve issues in the village.
These are the difficulties at present:-
1. A planning application was put in to build an industrial building near to railway cottages. This would have caused many issues for the residents and would also increased the size of the industrial estate. VVSM put their concerns forward and the application was refused.
2. Silos were moved on the industrial estate without planning permission. This has created noise concerns and visual impact concerns which we have addressed with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. A retrospective application has now been submitted and we are awaiting a decision.
3. A report has been put forward by Mr Barrett, we believe, to consider changing the Environment Agency flood map. VVSM have challenged this and engaged a company to investigate the report. The Environment Agency have now delayed any decisions until March 2012.
4. We still have huge concerns about how toxic waste was dealt with on Blythe Park and if the correct procedures were followed. We are still taking advice and trying to get answers to many questions from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
5. We have asked the Parish Council if they can look in to a sign for Cresswell as you come in to the village. All surrounding villages have them but Cresswell seems to have been left out. We would also like it to say please drive carefully due to the number of deaths and the speed of traffic going through the village.
6. Some parts of Cresswell have also been used for dumping building waste which we have concerns about as it is both unsightly and unsafe. If you see any of this occurring could you let us know as Staffordshire Moorlands Council have given us a number to contact.
Let's hope 2012 will make our village a safer and happier place to be!
